Aquarium!

Sorry i haven't written anything for so long! After posting everyday for a year I expected I would need some time off... But i thought this would be one month rather than three! So hopefully i will get back into doing at least weekly posts. This weekend I went to the Aquarium! I had never been to the London one before and had so much fun looking at all the fish!

Apocalypse at Aberdyfi Beach

I stayed with my best friend's mum at the weekend in Shropshire. It was lovely to stay in her amazing B&B in the country and we took lots of trips to see the surrounding area. It was a typical british holiday which required rain macs, jumpers, tights, shorts, bikinis all in the same day sometimes! The morning that we visited a Welsh beach started off perticularly bleak. The winds were really strong and while walking up the beach there was a constant stream of sand blowing towards us. I though i could break my lens with this much sand, but it was too good to not take a few shots of the apocalyptic heavens.

The Ivy

Went for food at the Ivy with my parents and my sister after graduation today. It had lovely windows and the man who filled my water up frequently was very good! Was super crammed though not sure why the man next to me had to explain "what apps were" so much!

Bar Tur Award Shortlisting

I have been invited to attend the Bar Tur Award award giving ceremony on Monday. I'm so excited and trying to work out what to wear as I will have to go straight from work. Not sure what I'm there for yet as it's all a bit hush hush, but have been asked to write a short piece about the work I submitted. The Theme this year was 'Olympian' due to a certain sporting event in London this year. This was my submission...

' Looking down, hiding from the crowd is the one thing the Olympians can’t do; but if I were them it’s what I would want to do.'

Wedding suitable camera straps

I loved the wedding I went to last weekend and always enjoy taking pictures... but my canon strap is a bit unsightly when all dressed up. I wouldn't have this problem if I had one of these beauties!

They are from Bloom Theory Straps and are amazing! However the $130 price tag is a tad too much for me. I may instead try a pair and a spare's DIY version, Who's tutorial can be found here.

Granny's Wonderful Chair

A book I found in my mum's house - Cute title - didn't read it though!
Just finished reading the Hypnotist - it's a bit nuts!  Anyone got any recommendations for my next read?

As I told you, Mr. Potter, naughty children deserve to be punished

Last of Harry potter I swear!

Here we have my sister and I on Hagrid's Bike. The Massive model of Hogwarts that they used to film establishing shots of the castle. The drinks from the Yule Ball. The Pendulum which was shown a lot in The Prizoner of Azkaban and Ron Weasley's bed in the Griffindor common room.

Also my favourite spoof Harry Potter trailer is below.

More Jubilation!

My Dad flying a flag

Tea and Scone in my Royal Mug. I got this as a present for working the summer opening of Buckingham Palace 2007. This was it's first and only outing out of the box. It increases in value the more bleached the box gets by the sun right?! probably shouldn't have been leaving it on my window sill!

Photography on Flickr

The Images above are a selection of my 'favourited' images on flickr.

The Revolution will not be Televised has an orwellian nature it speaks to me of production lines and lack of individuality. The grain and quality of the image add to its impact.

With the second image Untitled, I like the repetition and the confusion cause by the reflections. I also like that the artist and subjects' personality and mind frame is hinted at though the haphazard display of images.

I love the image of the singular hand in the ocean. The undercurrents of death and drowning are countered by the happy title 'Farewell!!'.

31.01 refers to a new years party by showing two girls in party hats, draped in fairy lights blowing balloons. However this image captures something more interesting than this. The image speaks of the carnivalesque with dark magical transformations. There is also the notion of morning a life you wish you had. With facebook taking increasing prevalence in people's lives, the real life sometimes doesn't live up to the persona you have created of yourself online.
