Ampersand

In Just my Type, Simon Garfield refers to the Ampersand. 'done well, an & is not so much a character, as a creature an animal from the deep.' he also refers to it as 'the uncle who has to many tricks' and its influence from calligraphy allows it to signify a permanence within partnerships. I just enjoy the Ampersand because he's a bit of a weirdo - a much more elaborate plus sign!
